Business support

Connecting attendees to the local business ecosystem

At the PopUp Business School Aotearoa we make sure new businesses stay connected by providing awareness of business network support in specific areas as needed. These connections are all about enabling business sustainability. Being aware of the Bookkeepers Assn NZ or Business Mentors NZ, for example, can provide business input allowing the business to strengthen its foundations and/or its direction.

Manurewa

Manurewa is located 6 km (3.7 mi) south of the Manukau City Centre, and 26 km (16 mi) southeast of Auckland CBD. The suburb is home to the Auckland Botanical Gardens, which receives over a million visitors a year. Manurewa is Māori for "drifting kite". The name refers to a kite flying competition where a kite line was severed and drifted away. The kite's owner was the chief Tamapahore who had a pā (fortified village) on Matuku-tururu (Wiri Mountain). The name Manurewa commemorates the incident by the name.

Manurewa has a high proportion of non-European ethnicities, making it one of the most multi-cultural suburbs in Aoteroa, adding rich diversity to the city of Auckland.

Ōtara-Papatoetoe

Ōtara is known regionally for its Saturday morning markets, held in the Ōtara Shopping Centre car park next to Manukau Institute of Technology's south campus. Papatoetoe residents enjoy living in an established area, with close proximity to the airport, motorway, industrial areas in Wiri and East Tamaki and the sub-regional Manukau city shopping centre, Hunters Corner, Ōtara town centre and St George Street area. Other well-known landmarks are Puhinui Reserve, Middlemore Hospital, The Grange Golf Club and Auckland Golf Club, which surrounds the hospital grounds.

Attendees’ feedback

We asked the participants what their Lightbulb moments were at the event. Also they left the messages for our partners and assessed our team’s efforts.
Every single lesson, and when Jung Chun came in as a speaker. Awesome.
When we tore up the traditional business course ideas up, you don't need to be tech saavy, have a degree to run a business and knowing there are so many free services out there.
Learning how to do my own taxes, Creating my own website, Meeting incredible New Entrepreneurs and being able to share a snapshot of my own Vision for my Future.
Gave the confidence to know that I can do this.
Actioning our ideas, stepping out of comfort zones and building my confidence.
